Community Servings

November 1, 2018

"Let us remember that as much has been given us, much will be expected from us, and that true homage comes from the heart as well as from the lips, and shows itself in deeds."  - Theodore Roosevelt

It is November. This month is all about Thanksgiving.  In the spirit of giving thanks and counting our blessings, we are doing our part (deeds) by again volunteering for the Pie in the Sky fundraising event.  This is its 26th year, in which over 100 greater Boston chefs, bakers and caterers bake and donate thousands of pies.  We, as one of the more than 500 volunteers do our part by selling these tasty treats.  Each pie costs $30.00 and that donation goes to the Community Servings organization.  For those not familiar with Community Servings, it is a not-for-profit food and nutrition program.  This program provides services throughout Massachusetts to individuals and families living with critical and chronic illnesses.  Their clients are people who are struggling with HIV/AIDS, cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other critical illnesses.

When you buy a single pie (for $30.00), one client is provided a weeks worth of meals.  These meals are nutritious, appealing and made-from-scratch.  The founders of this organization's mission is not only to feed those in greatest need but to also send the critically important message to them that SOMEONE CARES.

Please make an appointment with our technicians to either have you looking your best at your holiday functions or relaxing you (massage, Reiki, pedicure) to gear up for hosting friends and family.  We also invite you to buy a pie (or two) while you are with us.  The delicious choices for flavors are apple, pumpkin, sweet potato and pecan.  They must be paid for at the time of ordering by either cash or check.  We pick up the pies in Boston and you pick them up from us on the afternoon of the 20th or all day on the 21st.  Any extra pies will be for sale at this time as well.  Take a moment to think about how this event is a win-win situation.  You as the donator have the confidence of serving or bringing with you, or gifting a pie made by professionals.  You get to feel good that your donation is helping someone in need and with less time required in the kitchen resulting in more time for that pedicure!

All orders must be in by November 17th.

"If you are really thankful, what do you do?  You share."  - W. Clement Stone
