The Virtues of Watermelon
Did you know that August 3rd is National Watermelon Day? Did you also know that this juicy fruit originates from South Africa? The belief is that watermelon was cultivated because of its water content, so necessary in the desert. Since this fruit is 92% water that makes logical sense. It is, however, its wonderful taste as well as its thirst quenching abilities that account for its popularity here. Mark Twain wrote "when one had tasted watermelon, he knows what the angels eat".
Did you know that the watermelon's hydrating abilities applies to the skin as well? This fruit has many virtues. It is full of phytonutrients that promote cell regeneration, very important to your skin after exposure to the summer sun. Watermelon also has L-citrulline, an amino acid, that boosts blood circulation and Vitamin C which has wonderful anti-inflammatory properties. August is still a great month for pedicure and waxing appointments. Celebrate the watermelon not just on August 3rd, but anytime this month and hydrate your skin by selecting our Watermelon/Spearmint pedicure! It is a summer favorite with our patrons.
